The artist
As a schoolboy growing up in London, Barry Larking pored over the pages of the BBC’s Radio Times magazine to such an extent that the ink rubbed off on his fingers, but must have seeped into his blood. Barry has been working with his preferred medium pen and ink ever since.

Taking inspiration from his second love, nature, his water colour illustrations reveal a palette that is not only natural, but playful, breathing life into his work. A distinguished illustrator and friend has written of his work:

“His illustrations epitimise a certain kind of English sensibility. His work is sensitive to a fault yet capable of great honesty. He has the ability not to take himself too seriously. His animal characters particularly leap off the page full of life and comedic spirit. A joy to behold."
